Join MITO2i and MitoCanada on November 30th and December 1st, 2026 for the MITO 2026 National Conference in Ottawa, Ontario!

This conference will bring together international experts in mitochondrial biology, translational medicine, and biotechnology innovation. The event will showcase mitochondria research and medicine integrating patient lived experience and community groups. The two-day conference will feature keynote lectures, research presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities designed to foster collaboration and engagement between academia, industry and the patient communities.

This conference offers a unique opportunity for organizations working in biotechnology, pharmacology, metabolic health, diagnostics and therapeutics to engage with leading researchers and trainees to transform the field of mitochondrial medicine. Areas of discussion will include mitochondrial rare disease, and the role mitochondria play in neurodegenerative disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, metabolic disease, cancer, and mitochondrial transplantation.

CALL FOR SYMPOSIA

We are looking for symposia submissions for the conference!

Our goal is to incorporate sessions that are both scientifically rigorous and forward-looking, with a strong emphasis on emerging concepts, translational impact, and cross-disciplinary dialogue. We are also interested in building sessions that are highly integrative, bringing together perspectives from basic science, clinical research, industry, and patient advocacy.

Topics may include, but are not limited to:

• Mitochondrial mechanisms and fundamental biology
• Mitochondrial rare diseases
• Neurodegeneration and the aging brain
• Psychiatry and brain energetics
• Cancer metabolism and mitochondrial function
• Cardiometabolic disease

• Mitochondria and artificial intelligence
• Regulatory pathways for mitochondrial research
